The Classics

Some stories stand the test of time. Whether a tome from a well known author of yesteryear, or a modern book with a cult following, there are many great classics out there.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our inaugural meeting. For those not yet joined, I have created an email discussion group, so join up if you want to stay connected in between meetups.

On To The Next

It was a bit of a journey, but I think we landed on our next theme: The Classics.

There are a great many “classic” sci-fi and fantasy novels out there. Some are classic for a reason, others maybe haven’t aged as well. There are even modern classics, ones that aren’t as old, but whether through popularity or cult status find themselves in a place of reverence. You probably have one or two on your TBR list already.

However you define it, the challenge this month is to read something classic. I will provide a list of some titles to get you started, but pretty much anything from these authors would qualify. You can email me or the group if you want more options.

Sample of Classic Authors

  • Phillip K. Dick
  • Octavia E. Butler
  • H.G. Wells
  • J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Isaac Asimov
  • Arthur C. Clarke
  • Ray Bradbury
  • Samuel R. Delany
  • Mary Shelley

What to Bring

  • A book that fits the theme (optional!)
  • A 2-3 minute pitch if sharing
  • Theme ideas for future sessions
  • Your enthusiasm (required!)
