Magic / Technology Gone Wrong
This is a pretty easy theme this time. Most good fantasy and sci-fi stories revolve around a conflict, and many feature magic or technology as the source of that conflict.
So whether it is sabotage, improper planning or an “act of God”, there is often a good reason why everything comes crashing down. Even if it isn’t a core plot point, this type of failure is found all over the place. Feel free to share what went wrong and why (as long as it isn’t a spoiler).
