Submit a Theme

Have an idea for our next reading theme? We'd love to hear it! The best themes spark curiosity and let readers explore in different directions.

What Makes a Good Theme?

Broad Enough

Multiple books should fit, across different subgenres and styles.

Specific Enough

Not so vague that "everything counts." Give us something to explore.

Spark Curiosity

The best themes make people think "Oh, I know a book for that!"

Accessible

Books should be findable at libraries, on Libby, or at reasonable prices.

Example Themes

Lost at Sea — Shipwrecks, ocean mysteries, underwater worlds
Time Loops & Reset Stories — Groundhog Day energy, but with lasers or murder
Found Family (But Make It Weird) — Chosen families in strange circumstances
Unreliable Narrators — When you can't trust who's telling the story
Cozy Apocalypse — The world ends, but there's still tea

Theme Questions

Can I submit multiple themes?

Absolutely! Submit as many as you like. We'll add them all to the pool for future votes.

How are themes chosen?

At each meeting, we vote from the theme pool. The winning theme becomes next month's focus. Popular themes that don't win stay in the pool for future votes.

Can themes be specific to a subgenre?

Yes! Themes like "Space Opera" or "Urban Fantasy" are great. Just make sure there are enough accessible books that fit.

What if my theme was already done?

Popular themes can always come back! If enough time has passed and there's interest, we might revisit a theme—there are always more books to discover. You are welcome to read books from old themes as well, we are happy to hear your thoughts.
